I have a 01 vfr800 and was riding into work this morning and noticed it was wobbly so I checked tire pressure and it's good, so now I'm gonna raise the front end back up, I put a 929 shock on her about 3 months ago and it wasn't at oem height when I put it back together so I lowered forks about an inch to get the bike evened out, but got sick of the lowered feeling so I fixed the 929 shock, but never raised forks back up. Do you think that could be my problem? what else is there? advice needed.

I called a shop and talked to someone and they said if I'm off by an 1/8th of an inch on the lowered forks it'll throw it off balance and that wheel will pull that way, so I'm gonna raise them back to oem and see what happens.I'll keep you posted if it works or not

Why would the wobble start now though? Do you wheelie the bike? That will kill your steering stem bearings fast.

Yes, it is very likely the geometry change.

Long front forks are stable geometry that resists turning (think cruiser)

Short steep forks make for less stable and quick turning.

Raised the back and dropped the front of my vf1000f to have just this, a quicker steering and that what I got.

Get the bike on the center stand and support the mid section so your front tire is off the ground.
Turn your handle bars lock to lock and check for any looseness, grinding, catching, etc to rule out the steering stem bearings.

What do you mean by wobbly, ie left and right oscillations or up / down vibration, an odd feeling movement when cornering, something else ?

I had a all speeds vibration once which was caused by the front tires tread lifting underneath from the carcass in '04 on a early pilot power.

check front wheel bearins while you have the front tire in the air, look for no side to side play and grinding howeling noises

ok guys checked everything and nothing no play in tire or forks, I was on the phone with my local shop and they told me what I could do to know if the bearings or whatever else would cause the problem to be wrong and nothing, no play in wheels forks or anything, so I called another shop and talked to a guy I know and he said what tire pressure you running and I told him 36f and 40r and he told me to run 30-32f and 30-32r so I googled whats the best psi for tires and a lot of people are saying same thing. Is this right? Also called cycle gear and another one of my buddy's said I probably threw a weight for it to just all of a sudden happen that quick like that so I'm going to get them re-balanced tom since they'll do it for free, but has anyone heard 32/32 or 30/30?

    30/32 psi
Are you riding a moped? unless you ride on dirt.
38/40 is recommended. How old is the tires and mileage? Might want to bring to another shop for balance and try again to see if the problem go away.

I wish it was as light as a moped :violin: but no that's what I heard from a couple of people and checked it out on some sites, I always do 36F 40R, but the tires are not even a month & 1/2 old and she only has 14,000 miles, I've been working on her more than I've been riding but I am a daily commuter with her, but work 10min away from my house, I think I threw a weight but I'll see tom or fri. I hate not being able to fix her myself, I can on most of the problems but @ least I'll learn whatever the problem is now how to fix in future, I didn't get much info or service history from previos owner, so I've been re-doing everything oil, tires, coolant, sparkplugs, bolts and hardware, k&n filter, ect ect so I'm gonna go ahead and change the bearings out anyways, then sit and wait on Jamie's fork setup

    Factory pressure spec is 36/42.
Maybe the front tire is defective or needs rebalanced? I agree with SCUBZ start with the easiest solution.
