6th gen exhaust conversion for 5th gen

Amendment to previous misleading post.

Does anyone have any advice re "updating my 5th gen '98 VFR single can exhaust to a 6th gen under seat twin can? I have a stock twin can from a 2003 donor.
I expect that I may have to change a few things around eg plastics, electrics, seat and subframe...,

I was wondering if anyone might have gone through this process before?

 

It can be done, I've seen photos of 800Fi's with underseat cans but it's a hell of a lot of work to do to add weight to the back end. I'm not sure the ones I've seen have used 6th gen parts, more like one-off link pipes and different cans. As you're asking for advice, it's probably not what you want to hear but personally I'd go for a high-level single can replacement.

 

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear it's been done before. I like the sound of a single underseat can, that's a good idea. Donor cans only cost me £25 so no great loss there (ebay here they come). Just started a rebuild from a trashed '98 onto a donor frame, in time for a chilly Irish winter. Lot of plastic to replace so was thinking of going "naked"- the bike that is, I can see the headlines otherwise, "Naked 50 yr old arrested on the Gorey By-pass", not a pretty sight. Have access to metalwork classroom so will be able to fabricate any necessary parts. Plan to take my time with it, "patience is a virtue...," and all that nonesense.
