OK-I have aquired an 84 interceptor that had sat for a couple years. It ran OK, but was struggling going any speed over 45mph so I decided to clean the carbs. They were clogged so that was necessary. Anyway, I have put them back on and now I am getting too much gas. The only way it will start is by turning off the gas and holding it at full throttle. After a couple cranks of 5 seconds it sputters and starts, but I have to hold the rpm at about 3K and if I turn the gas back on it dies. If I let off the gas and the butterflies shut it also dies. I'm wondering if I have the gas lines routed correctly and can not find any good pics to verify. There are two lines in question. One that comes from between the two rear carbs to a T fitting (pretty much centered on the bike) and one that comes off the right side rear carb. I believe the first is supposed to go the fuel line and the second is an overflow, but not sure.

One should be fuel supply and the other a float bowl vent, a pic of said carb connections will make things easier.

here is a pic. the u shaped line in the middle which is turned towards the air box is where i have the fuel going to. i moved this u shaped hose to the right rear carb and took that line and put it here. the pic is from before i did that. i did this b/c i was unsure if i had put these 2 lines back on the wrong place. i did not have a line long enough to have the fuel line run from the bottom left of this pic to the right side of the bike, unless i missplaced something

Here's a photo of the fuel line in bottom left. Hose in the middle is a vent.

Thanks a lot. I see my problem now. When I put the tubes back together between the carbs (I replaced the o-rings) I switched 2 of them. See pic. So, I was baffled how to get the fuel from the left side of the bike to the carb on the right. I switched the hoses when I really needed to switch the pipes. So I'm trying to fill on the vent right now which is flooding the bike. I guess for right now I will get a longer hose and run it to the right side and put the vent hose back where it should be. I would not think there would be a problem where the fill line goes as long as it goes to the fill piping. I'll try that and see what happens. I'd have to take the carbs back off to put the pipes back in the correct spots. If this works I'll leave that for the winter.
