So I recently bought a 1984 vf500f. It seems to be in great mechanical condition but cosmetics are sketchy. I will post pictures later, but my main dilema is how I should go about giving the bike a little restoration. The '84 decals are pretty much non-existent but I have found several '85 decal sets. The paint doesn't change much but I'm curious if that would be a large no-no in the restoration scene. I would be willing to try and replicate the original decals (Stripes not the graphics) with paint but I don't know how I would start. I would love to keep the bike in an unmolested state and hopefully increase its appeal by sticking to the stock condition. Opinions? Thanks for any feedback!
