    Hey everyone,

So I'm not new to the awesomeness of the vf500. I had one back in 99 when I was 18, was my first motorcycle ever and I loved it!! Sold it a couple of years later to buddy who wrecked it and my heart was sad. Couple years later I bought an 86 with the intent on fixing it up. Sadly never got around to it and sold it to a fellow in Fargo. Fast forward to this fall and I'm crusing Craig's list and come across a used 84 in Lincoln Montana for $400. It looked pretty rough but has the f1r pipes so I talked the kid down to $300. When I got there, 2.5 hour drive from where I live in Ennis Montana, the bike was rougher than I had hoped but the motor was free so I paid the kid. 3 weeks ago I hop on the Minneapolis Craig's list cause I was driving there for thanksgiving, and sure enough another 84 vf500 pops up but in eau Claire Wisconsin. My most excellent uncle who lives in the twin cities and is a collector of vintage British bikes, offered to go pick it up for me. The kid was asking $350, offered him $250 and he took it. And guess what, this one has an aftermarket full lower!! Picked her up last weekend in Minneapolis and now they are both in my garage in Montana. Pics to follow soon

Here's the first one I got for $300
    Nice F1R Exhaust

Tank is dented, has some rust and the PO tried to fix a leak in the corner with some sort of caulking...people are pretty awesome!!

Turn Signals are all bent/broken but the plastics are overall pretty good

Here's the $250 one :) I think this PO was trying to accomplish some sort of blue to black fade thing......more awesomeness!!
    Notice full lower fairing!!

Some sort of euro light look with paint on the rear lens...

    Other side

The front, no signals required!! (or included)

    Close ups of the lower

This is of the inside of the lower, it looks to be rough(ish) fiberglass. If this style looks familiar to anyone I'd be very grateful for any info at all

So the second bike rolls great and seems to have good compression with turning the motor over in 5th gear. I'm planning on pulling the plastics, checking compression on the two motors, using the one with better compression, adjusting the valves and attempting to get it started using the better (blacked out) tank. Cheers!!

Thanks for sharing Matt. So what's your plan in a perfect scenario? Are you just hoping to make one sound, good running bike, or will you try to do a complete restoration back to original new condition, or custom? Think you'll be ready to ride it by spring? GOD I'm nosey:eagerness:

Telefix Lowers from Germany imported by Spec II. You could get them unpainted or painted to match. The paint was very good.
