I got the bike for twenty bucks and was very eager to get it running.

Put a new starter in as the old one was dying and took out the carbs.

Its relatively easy to clean everything and it helped having the service manual. One of the throttle plates in one of the carbs doesnt close all the way, with maybe a milimeter of clearance when all the other ones are closed. I tried switching the little plate, but same thing. Ill probably have to put in a new carb as i have lots of spares.

However I dont think this is the issue at hand.

Starts up fine, revs across the rpm range, the second it goes under 2500 rpm, it just stalls.

    Anyone got any clue?

That could be float levels set too high, resulting a low level of fuel in carbs. Or just filthy carbs, idle jets and their associated passages most particularly.
