86 vf1000r, where does this spring go.

just got this bike and i cleaned the carbs recently trying to get it running right. i removed them and gave them to a co worker to clean because i am too busy. he took one of them apart and i decided to do the work myself and took them back. after i put them back on the motor, i noticed i still had 1 small diameter longer spring left. it is not the ones that go on the throttle shafts but it is stiff. what does this spring go to.

what spring, where? i don't see a spring.

find a parts diagram and parts list for your carbs; that should help.
