I have a '86 VF1000R I'd like to move out. I bought it 5-6 years ago thinking I'd restore it. Clearly that's not happening. Clear South Dakota title. Location: Watertown SD Tires with less than 50 miles on it, but they are old enough (6 years?) that they are probably hard. New chain. Its complete, minus the small mesh panel on the right side. It's all there, but it's all rough. Like it looks OK from 15 feet, but every body panel has at least some damage. Tank is good, not perfect, no rust. Valves are checked and in spec. Oil was changed (but it's old now). I had it running when I bought it. I have video of that. Tank and carbs were drained at that time. Yoshi cans. Not shown in the pics, but I do have the tail section and also the rear seat cowl. I have a boat load of detailed pics I can post if there is interest. I'd like $2200. If that's insane, by all means let me know.
I don't think that's insane, but probably a little high considering the overall condition as you noted, even though it is mostly complete. But 1000Rs are hard to gauge sometimes. It is def a very good resto candidate for somebody that knows they will be spending WAY more than it's worth. I don't think you'll have much trouble if you're willing to deal a bit. Good luck.
