92 vfr engine noise  need opinions plz

ok here it goes. took my bike to a local shop to have the valves adjusted no tapping at all before it went in. i noticed a tap fairly present around 3,000 to 5000 rpm after that engine is loud. I asked the guy at the shop and he says he don't hear it. i started it for one of my rideing buddies (knows the sound vfr pwns gear drive ROX) and he noticed it right away. Its back in the shop now says he gonna check em again. Sounds to me he got one too loose cause after it warms up it quiets down a bit but is still noticeable. I am scared something is messed up had to drive it too shop and back no truck to transport. man this bites!!!!!!!! it made no engine noise what so ever except the sweat whine of the gears .. inputs appreciated.
