Hi guys, I searched the forums, but didn't see anything like this. I just did my first-ever valve adjustment on my '94 VFR750. It took a couple of weeks, what with waiting for shims to arrive, and triple-checking everything. Everything is great, except that my radiator fan now hits the front valve cover! I bolted the bracket that holds the radiator to the engine case correctly. There's just about 1mm or 2mm interference between the blades of the fan and the hump on the valve cover. The valve cover looked symmetrical to me. Is it possible I put it on backwards? Does it have more clearance one way than the other? Perhaps I slightly bent the fan away from the radiator when I zip-tied the radiator forward. Seems unlikely, though. Any ideas?
I knew and saw that this is a tight fit, but you got me on this one, sounds reasonable that there could be a relief in the valve cover, but don't have a clue and to find out I'd have to take mine apart, Hmm..anyone else know??
Nobody else remembers such a scenario? Now that we have a nice heat wave in the Bay Area, this is suddenly extremely important. I think I'm going to try and dismount the radiator fan and bend the tabs a bit. I'm assuming that when I pushed the radiator forward, I tugged the fan a bit too much and slightly tweaked the mounts.
