Hi guys I'm new here as you can see. Well lets start the story. I got this bike about 8 years ago on a trade, the bike was brought to me late at night for the showing. I looked in the dark thought it was ok traded for it end of story? Now the next morning I woke up went to look and play with my new toy and everything that you could imagine was junk or broke. All the plastic, wind screen, starter switch, brake lines, mirrors, master cly and caliper seals leaking, horn didn't work, faring stays non exsistant, spedo glass broke, spedo cable trashed.... speedo hub trashed, throttle, choke cables frayed, and soooooo much more!! How could you trade something for this you ask? Well when you wait for 6 hrs after the time the trade is supposed to happen and it's night I'm tired! Now after all of these years she's breathing again and my FZR has taken a back seat! Now for the questions. She has some goodies on her that have been on there probably since the first owner. It has a yoshi pipe, front fork brace, corbin seat, K&n filter with a Air filter box lid that has been drilled out for increased air flow. Also had Magura clipons and ss brake lines that were frayed and a jet kit! Now I know all of these parts are definitely vintage. So here's a question it has a wiesco sticker on it, did they make pistons back in the day for the VFR if so can I run a compression check and compare to stock compression #'s. One more question I bent and broke 1 needle jet when replacing a vac piston. Now this kit has aluminum needles and there are very thin!!! Any one remember a jet kit that came with thin aluminum needles so I can get another one? Or can I mic it and call around. Someone put together a good bike and I just want to put it back to it's original glory! Any info is welcome.
Hi and welcome on the board. I cant anwser if there was Wiseco pistons made for the VFR at the time.. but Dynojet still make jet kits for these old VFRs. Nice lookin VFR by the way, just the color I love mine would been. I like the pipe and seat. Odd hole in the side panel under seat. Seems like the fork tubes are rised in the tripels too
Yeah the other side has an oddly shaped hole cut out of the plastic too. The Magura lowered clipons I took off http://www.oldbritts.com/70_200015.html also the ss brake lines came off as they were frayed and your right the front end has been dropped. Thats why I wonder if this was a oldschool track bike?
