I added tank pads, r+G sliders-very hard to cut into the fairing because of working on a non flat surface, but they are on. Working on the carbon canister-I took it off and plug up the two lines-from what I under stand one line needs to be un plugged-to work right! My other project is installing some custom china copy folding levers-they are very nice -I think. I had the seat cut down 1 inch to get my feet on the ground. I also have the new m5 metzler set of tires to put on-right after the winter breaks-no point in putting them on now. all I can do right now is wait for march-so I can actually get plates for this beast- I have only put on maybe 350 miles so far-not such a good experience , I used my foot as a slider in a close to zero fall-due to inexperience with the 2006 vfr- cost me a bent lever and a broken peg slider-no big deal. I did turn the bike over today-didn't try and start her because its too cold-a warmer dAY AND I WILL RUN THE ENGINE TILL THE fan comes on-to keep everything in operating order. I think , I will put my helmet on-LOL! I am recovering ceo from a failed company-that owes me a lot of dough-that I will get maybe?:joker:

Sounds like you are having fun.

I would be interested to see pictures of your seat mod. If it was a DIY effort how long did it take and did you encounter any problems?

If the bike is not going to be on the road until spring, then you should consider taking the usual over winter storage steps. Personally I would not start/run the bike if you are not going to ride it. If you are worried about the battery - just take if off and keeping it indoors and once a month connect to a battery tender until it is topped up. There was a thread on here fairly recently which covers the basics for winter storage.

I think starting and just idling the engine till the fan comes on helps keep the engine all oiled up and takes some water out of the oil and exhaust-I did the same thing with the Yamaha r6. I don't know yet how well the seat came out-its lower but now I am right on the tank-that's why I added some tank pads-good to have any way. I don't want to fill the gas tank because its just too top heavy with all that gas in there-I did add fuel stabilizer, seafoam, techron, gas line anti freeze-. The temp so far went down to 10 degrees so far. I have low temp oil in 05-40 w synthic rt4 Castrol with very little miles on it-Big oil filter 3.5 inch Long!:smileyfb:

I forget where I got the sliders $219-but they are the most important mod you can do-if you want to keep the shinny plastic pieces in one piece without marks all over them as this bike is very top heavy. I am looking at installing a light weight slip ons- to help with the top heavy part. I got some new handle bar lever's to put on that fold away if the bike falls over, they are also more adjustable, so you can change gears and brake fast and easy. I may get the on the road in march but might wait till april! Insurance and sales tax ect-its a lot to get a plate.:smiley_simmons::smiley_simmons:

You can also use your foot as a slider:spider::strong: if you want to be cheap!
