HOLY SHIT DID I SEE AN ASKING PRICE OF $13,900. I understand the heritage, but really this is for a collector. Great post for those of us that have been diehards for year. I am not one but love the bike I have!

For that kind of money, I will pretend I have an HRC Kit!. Plus I would want the motor assembled by a certified mechanic and tested.

Wow! That is frickin' nice! Would be a sweet sounding engine, with the 360 degree crank in her.

That is just the starting bid, with a much higher reserve I am sure. Owning both the 83 and the 14 versions I can tell you no matter what the HRC kit could add, it wouldn't be worth it. I see first gens all the time on Craig's List, some in decent condition. The 8th gen walks all over the first gen in every aspect, as it should after 30 years of improvements. I still enjoy the fiddling with the 83, and the occasional ride, but I really love the new bike.

Race-spec engines may have far higher maintenance requirements than stock and more frequent parts replacements. Only for the well-heeled vintage racer, i'd say. Otherwise it's a nice antique, but way too crude in comparison to modern machinery with better EVERYTHING ! Modern tires and wheels at a minimum if my ass is ridin' ! :eagerness:
