Whelp, I am not feeling so wordy today, but I will try to give you an idea of our trip. I encourage my fellow amigos to add anything that they have as well, as I did not take that many pics overall.

The Trip: Start in Oceanside, CA, go thru Tecate, Mexico, figure out our way, eat waaaaay to many tacos, drink waaaay to much beer, and maybe some "entertainment" along the way, comprende?
Attendees: Myself (derstuka), Long Dong from Hong Kong (scubalong), Reg71, and ToeCutter.

Mr. Cutter of the Toe traveled all over prior to our trip. From Sacramento, to SF, to Tehachapi, then over to Lompoc to come down together with Sir Reginald-Duke of the Lompoc.

Well, Mr. Cutter the Toe and his majesty Sir Reginald arrived Thursday night at Long Dong from Hong Kong's casa. The ball dragger and Pornstar Reject (yours truly) comes down Friday morning for our !viva Mexico departure. We were kind of getting a late start at that as Long forgot his passport and had to make a measly 120 mile round trip back to Westminster to get it. Once he returned, there was some more ass dragging and now it was determined that Long badly needed some lube ( not that kind :ass:) for his chain....so we stop into House of Motorcycles to pick that up so Long could get all lubed up! Hehe. I use this opportunity to bump up my idle and we four biatches are FINALLY ready! Have you ever met such a pair of lady bitches? Sheeesh!

Here are two of our steed's (me and Reg) outside Long's house:

Once we got going, I took them on the backroads so we could cross at Tecate, Mexico. This border cross is an absolute joy to cross when compared with Tijuana, the town is cleaner, people are nicer, just a lot of pluses. Well, prior to us getting there (Long should have this pic) Reggie's jacket decided that he has grown to his horizontal limit  and blew out his entire zipper on the way down to Long's. He had a well thought out elaborate getup consisting of two yellow bungy straps holding his jacket closed. First order of business was to fillup at the US side of the border. We took this opportunity to purchase some Mexican MC insurance as well. I was able to get some so-so directions to a tailor to repair Reggies jacket in Tecate, Mex from the clerk. So off we go down to ole Mexico. We cross over the lovely upside down slippery metal salad bowls, and we are now in Mexico. As soon as we cross, I must be the most shady-looking character as they decided to search my bike. This was over quick, and I found the boys waiting on a side street a few blocks up. We then tried to find the tailor, and after a few circles and asking questions, we found a tailor (or mostly shoe repair guy). I told Reg that it was unlikely that we were going to get his jacket repair in an hour....probably several hours to the next day I thought....however, he proved me wrong when the nice man said that he needed to find a zipper, and would do it right away. Before we knew it, some guy ran up from nowhere with a long zipper, and the man started this work. These peeps know how to work together I'll telling ya! We found some killer tacos, and chatted waiting for the jacket to be complete. After about an hour, we were on our way.

Once out of Tecate, we went up in the mtns and backcountry of Baja. The road was relatively nice for Mexican standards. The thing that always get me is the posted Mexican speed limits. For example. The speed limit says 60 KPH (37MPH), then goes to 40 KPH/25MPH (with not a house or curve around) then back to 60 KPH, then to 110 KPH (68MPH) for about 300 meters, then back to 40KPH....once again, no houses or town around. Regardless, I tried to have some fast folks "shakin' the trees" while we "rake the leaves" as the old adage goes. We are mostly doing around 60 MPH to keep us from going to jail so bad.

As we head further down into Baja, we encounter some interesting construction......there is a nice paved road, now all of a sudden we are on a dirt road, riding for mile or two....suddenly I am wishing for my XR650....then back to pavement with a nice nasty lip where you attempt to get back on the pavement. A little further down, we again encountered some construction, and it appears it is ok to just dig out a hill and dump all of the dirt in huge piles all over the road. I think John was getting a woody looking at all of the CAT equipment around...and in the middle of nowhere. This time the dirt road was very soft, but it was short, and we made it thru no problem taking care to avoid the 20 foot deep hole with an excavator in it....lol. We went a little further up, and after some nice curves where we were able to carve it up for a bit, and showing the boys the nice Baja wine country, we came into the small little town of Guadalupe. I made Reg top off as his bike has not been running the best and now is getting around 120 miles to a tank. We decide that in this crazy heat, a cold beer and taco would do just nicely. Reg is also having some bad back back issues, and needs to get some Meds in Ensenada to help cope.

Taco stand in Guadalupe, Mex. Yum yum yummy...

After getting our fill, and cooling down, we proceed to Ensenda. Once there, I take them to the coast/beach just past the cruise ship terminal by about a mile or two.

Three viffers and a yammie along the coast of Ensenada

We were chillin', enjoying the view, and we see this cop (or we think "might" be a cop) on a small scooter pretty much finding his way along the boardwalk. He appears to have some magnetic draw to each attractive girl(s) that he passes, and makes sure they are ok by chatting with them for several minutes...he must be the boardwalk pimp he probably thinks. He soon saw our bikes and came to talk to us. He really liked them, and told us how bad that he wanted one. He was trying to locate one he could afford. He seemed (and told us) he gets bored so he just goes around talking to folks (mainly women) and killing time. He just seemed so happy that we were talking to him, that he was with us for probably 30 mins. Really friendly guy though. He gave us some advice on where to get some "entertainment", and where to stay at a hotel. Due to Reg having some back issues, and us being content with staying there, we decided to not go all the way to San Quintin (another 120 miles or so), and to just get a hotel, and party in Ensenada.

    Moses chatting with the boys.

So after listening to Moses' advice...which included advice for how to get out away from a cop extorting you for money, we grabbed a hotel that he recommended, and proceeded to find out where the action was. We found a few :stripper: places that were fun, and sample a few just to be sure. Long was intent (as usual) of ordering whatever raw seafood that was thrown at him, so he ordered some raw shrimp and and the juices/water that came with it to help the "digestion process."

The boys eating, with Long enjoying his shrimp plate.

We partied at some fine "orphanages" (hint hint), found out some were taking more donations that were given, so we found one we all approved of! :stripper:

After a good night sleep, it was time to ride down to La Bufadora to let John check it out, and have some cerveza's and tacos.

Here are some pics on the way to La Bufadora.

Taking a pic of Long taking a pic....lol
    [IMG]

Rainbow after the blowhole well, blew. If anybody ever asks you, tell him that La Bufadora blows! haha[IMG]

Me, John, and Sir Reginald about to enjoy some cervezas and tacos.......Long had a GIANT raw clam of course.... after helping the cook "Mario" with prep, and nosing all around his kitchen documenting it all.

I do not have pictures of it, but I asked Long to lead and find us a place to eat. We rode into some hellish constuction in Rosarito Beach, and finally go thru, then we went "round N round" looking for a place to eat and park. We all ended up getting separated, extremely hot & sweaty, some bikes were stalling (Long's) from the high heat. Well, we finally got a place to eat, and sat back enjoying a cold one before our journey back to the US.

Once in TJ it was as hellacious as ever. Due to crazy construction, I missed the turn off, but quickly found another way to the border line. Last time the lines were tight (spacing between cars) and this was no exception. Me, Reg, and John followed the K.I.S.S (keep it skinny stupid) philosophy, and we had a hard time making it thru, but not as bad as Long who had saddlebags on. I think we all lost a pound of clutch riding thru traffic, avoiding taco vendors, roasted corn vendors, tweety bird vendors, etc, etc....anything you want, they probably have it. You zig, you zag, then you zig back, from one side to the other as cars are sqeezing you in. I took off ahead as Long was slowed down by his saddlebags, and he trapped John and Reg behind him. John and Reg somehow got around Long and caught up to me. John then badly needed some souvenirs, so we cut to the right, and started cooking more in the sun waiting for him. Reg and I pressed ahead, then got stuck behind a dualie in a single lane, and after I persuaded him to move over, we "barely" squeezed buy with one foot on the concrete median, and the other trying to avoid the truck. After that, Reggies bike got so hot that it stalled but we were so close that it did not matter. We shut thte bikes off, and pushed them up to the border agents and got thru in no time after that. Long found John in all of this mess buying shirts and hoodies, so they came thru together, and I do believe Long might have some bumper marks to pop the cherry on his saddle bags once again (since he got ride of his pretty silver ones!)! haha. I do believe that Reg might have footage of our border splitting fiasco.

Example of some of the border line lane-splitting fiasco.

Oh, and we might have stopped in TJ for some "tacos" as well.

Well, that is all for now folks, I hope you enjoyed the ride. It was an interesting time, and a blast, all at the same time. Good friends, and good times....glad I could be a part of it!

Feel free to add to the fun Reg, John...and oh, how is your stomach doing today senor Long? Did the giant clam come back to getcha?? :tclaw:

Looks like a good time. I never rode into Mexico when I was stationed in San Diego. I probably should have since I'm on the east coast now and will probably never make it back. Oddly, I don't miss Cali at all. Looks like a good time though.

Fuck.....All you have to complain about coming from Mexico into the USA at the border crossing is a line-up?

One year heading up to Canada for Sportbike West.. (the one shut down by RCMP) We crossed at Osoyoos.. Riding with us was a USAF E9 who had been crew chief on AF 1. He was on leave and hadn't shaved for several days. The guys on your side I guess thought he was a bad boy and held us up for about two hours. One phone call fixed that. Nothing like a one star General to fix shit. The very odd part was that our E9 buddy had his military ID on him. Power corrupts to be sure but there ain't no cure for stupid..

Got family with holdings in Ensenada. That crossing at TJ can be a bitch. Famous shots of Steve McQueen full on at Tecate on "On Any Sunday."

Gotta love that taco joint. tripas and cabeza... A loonie sez that Long didn't get the Moctezuma two-step from that Pismo clam. Two more loonies sez he knows that if they ain't live not to eat one raw.

Sheeeeesh! Ungrateful grumpy ole man....is that all you have to say for my "entire" write up with pics? Alas, I waste my time trying to share with your grumpy ass! Hey, that rhymes! Back to your wheel of fortune until the amicable Randy that I saw this Spring comes back! Will you be happier if I send you some maple syrup? Come to think of it, your demeanor is probably a result of the 2 million gallons of the good stuff (maple syrup) that was stolen from New Brunswick earlier this year......I can understand that boss. I would be grumpy too....don't be hatin' on me for it though....eyez inn-O-cent.

I'm pressed for time so let me try and add to Jason's tale...

Yep, I busted zpper, yep it got fixed in Tecate. Yep we rode off-road for a couple miles during which I quickly passed Long not wanting to be behind him after his last dirt outing on his F800GS.

Made it to the motel recommended by Moses and parked the bikes under the stairs. Lucky for us the security was good because Long thought it would be a good idea to leave the key in his bike overnight.

    Here's the view:[IMG]

    And here's the bikes:[IMG]

We got upacked then headed out for the "2 block" walk that took 45 mins to get to downtown. Nothing like getting walking directions in Mexico. I guess we were quite the sight in the off the path areas of Ensenada.

    More to follow.

We then wandered around looking for places to visit later in the evening. You know for dinner and such. Anyway, we got a good look at downtown Ensenada and not even one person was shot. Toecutter did get approached by a local lady offering cultural services or something like that for $30 but he politely declined and we proceeded to look around. I believe the general consensus was that it was pretty much like downtown in any SoCal city more or less with Starbucks, McDs, and OXXO instead of CircleK.

We caught a cab (hallelujah) back to the hotel and all got cleaned up for the nights activities. I think we took a cab back downtown but I don't remember and then finally found a place to eat after negotiating 10 beers, 2 shots of tequila and a plate of ceviche for $20. Not to mention the obligatory chips and salsa that is pretty much at most restaurants.

Long is very happy about the bucket o beer:

Of course, when you negotiate a good price in Mexico, but you also take Long along you get random orders of bait for $10 added to your tab:

John and I tried it, but let me just say this, there is no reason to not cook shrimp. It tastes great cooked. I just don't know who thought uncooked shrimp is a good idea. Anyway, there went all our great negotiating cause now we have a pile o bait that only Long can stomach.

    (maybe that was his plan!)

Long and I had to take the tequila shots cause everyone was chicken, I mean pollo.

You can see how much he loves it in this photo. I was just drinking it to get the bait flavor our of my mouth...yuck.

There are a couple more pics from the restaurant in there but I turned off my phones before we left to do our charity work so there are no photos after the restaurant.

I think I may have a few pics and/or vids from the next day on my gopro. I'll try and get to it soon.

Try Google Images.. or some of the narratives for very colorful language in both English and Spanish.

I submit that Long will not be springing for the tab at any sushi bar stateside in future.

So..is the SS Catalina still in the harbor at Ensenada or did they tow her off or sink her?

Some pics from last year that I took. Difference this year that Reg and I (and John) followed the K.I.S.S philosophy and senor longa donga did not partake (meaning he had saddlebags on). As you can image, being hot, trying to avoid cars and vendors of all sorts it is hard to take a pic (or remembering to since you are frustrated). As the ole adage goes, pics cannot do it justice of the mayhem of being there...on the upside, it is a nice weightloss program for the viffer and I leave about a pound of clutch each time!

Mmmmmmmmm....which flavor do you think Reg is gonna get? I would get the mango myself....

After 10+ years of being stuck on that sandbar in Ensenada Harbor, they finally cut her up for scrap from what I heard. I can remember seeing her there back in the late ninties...
