Bought my '09 new in '11. Since put 13,000 mi. on it, on 2nd front tire, on 3rd rear tire (70% worn), just adjusted the chain (had lots of slack). Always had Dunlops, should they wear this fast? I do take
care of it, change oil every 2-3,000mi.

Really depends on the compound you are running. My Dunlops were about the same but I prefer the stickier models for the extra safety margin they offer. I'd say that you aren't that far off the norm for a bike that is ridden with an aggressive edge on the street.

My dunlops didnt last too long. You can try pilot road 3 or 4 for longer lasting but if your on the aggressive side then it wont matter. Try for smother starts. Rough or fast starts cause the wheel to spin and not grip, thats when the most wear happens.

But this is all my own opinion.

It also depends on the type of roads in your area. Concrete, asphalt, type of aggregate used...

^^^ Agree with that. Don't know what the road sufaces are like in your area but do know the highways in Washington and Oregon can be hell on your tires with all that chip seal they use. Great traction tbough.

Sounds aboot right for a tire that is soft enough to be fun and safe. You could try the Chen Sing Granite series if you want long lasting tires.

Not when it's fresh. Fresh chip seal is like a gravel road.

Mainly for back roads, seen it used down in Cali as well.

I had a set of BT016 tires that I stupidly used for commuting and some canyons. I got about 2500 miles out of them until they were squared off. This was on my Triumph Sprint RS which was a little lighter than the Viffer and had about 20 ft lbs more torque. Lots of highway miles and hard acceleration up the the on ramps. I actually had them slip on me though. Pilot Road 3 have been ridden a lot harder, lasted longer and have never slipped, even when hammering it out of a curve. This held true on both the RS and the VFR I have now.

I mostly run Bridgestone tires, so far only 3 models on all the bikes I've had. The worse wearing was the BT003RS but that was on a 190rwhp ZX14 so yea they didn't last more then 2500 miles before they were toast. Best all rounder so far has been the S20 Bridgestone, they last a little longer then the BT016 and have a softer sides for the canyon action. My triumph came with Pirelli super corsas but I didn't care much for them and they ride very bumpy.

If you want to try a longer lasting Sport Biased Street tire can recommend the newish Michelin Pilot Power 3's, their turnin is quick but linear, their grip excellent at full lean, their cold wet performance is very good and so far they seem to be wearing very well for a tire in their class.
