Installed new, straight-rate fork springs yesterday afternoon, that are about 20% stiffer than the stock spring rate. Also changed the fork oil while I was in there. This change, combined with the re-sprung and re-valved OEM rear shock I installed a couple of days ago, has resulted in a nice improvement in handling and stability. (Thanks, DMr Performance Suspension Systems!) No more bottoming over large bumps, and the bike now turns on a dime. Better stability at freeway speeds too. All in all, a solid improvement in ride quality and handling, for small money. Now it's on to installing a luggage rack and a new seat...

Been there, done that...DMr has revamped the suspension on all 3 of my bikes, probably the best ROI of any of the mods I have done to my bikes. Congrats on this improvement!

What valves/springs did you go with for your rear OEM shock, and what did that cost if you don't mind my asking? I'm having my front get DMR cartridges, but I'm looking for a cheap option for the rear. I can't afford ohlins/penske and Jaime's new rear shock isn't out yet although that probably couldn't happen for awhile anyway.

I am also looking to obtain upgraded fronts from him-when I downloaded the order form from him it was a bit confusing to someone such as myself. Not a mechanic at all and there were so many different options I just got flustered and gave up. Can anyone help me with this? I know I need stiffer springs, as I weigh 225 lbs but beyond that I'm not certain what I should order.

After looking at the order form the only confusing thing for me is this: one can order a "fork cartridge kit" which sounds self explanatory or a "emulator set". What is an "emulator set"?

The emulator is for earlier bikes that didn't use cartridge type damping.
They emulate how a cartridge works.

That's my understanding- that the bike is undersprung to begin with and i weigh 225 lbs so it wallows badly. Ordered cartridge kit last night.

Does anyone know anything about the new rear shock he's going to be selling soon?

Have not heard anything from DMr only a few teasers here and there. I understand he’s been looking at doing this for some time. Based on what he’s done with OEM components, I’m sure it’ll be worth a look.

This is the last update I had from Jamie in April:

"Still working on it. I knew that if I didn't have it ready by the first of the year it would be a problem - this is the busiest time of year and it is difficult to finalize new designs now. Not to mention this is the biggest undertaking we've ever done.

I'm actually nudging closer everyday. I've got a set of parts out to anodizing right now and that will complete about 90% of the initial inventory. Hopefully just another couple of months. In the meantime if there is anything else I can help you with please let me know!"

Thanks. The rear shock will be my next issue to address. It feels as if I have no shock-I have it maxed out. Very rough ride.
