Looking to change out the air filter on my VR
    Honda wantsalmost $70 Canadian
A HiFlo Filter disposable is around $35
Has anyone used one and how is the fit and quality compared to OEM.
    Much thanks.

I have one for my NC24 - VFR400 - no issues with fit & quality.

Me? I don't take chances with things that there are no reasons to gamble with, things that could have a direct result on the longevity of the motorcycle. The factory air filter works great, why gamble is what I'm saying. To save $20-$40? My VFR is fast enough too, so now I have zero reasons to make a switch. Just my 2 cents!

In my defence, I would ALWAYS run the standard OEM oil filter - given the choice, however I can't get them for the NC24 in the UK.

You change it every few years. It's not like you have to buy one weekly. The extra cost of OEM is worth the peace of mind. There's no point to go cheap on a maintenance item like an air filter.

Yes ... it's identical to OEM pretty much. I use them on my bike. They are good filters.

I've used their oil filters as well. They are decent, but I prefer WIX for the oil filter. I will continue to use the HiFlo Filtro air filters though.

    Every few years? Seriously?

I change mine every year and it's filthy! I could probably do mine twice a year. LOL

That said, there's nothing wrong with the HiFlo Filtro ones. They are every bit as good as the OEM.

Same here; no issues with them.

Interestingly (and not to take this back to an oil filter thread) I bought a new HF303 oil filter on the weekend, and my Honda dealer offered me the option of "standard" or "race" (his words) versions, the latter has a nut on the front, just like our beloved K&N....

Jeff, how many miles do you average in a year. I average about 6,000 and I know that yours is much higher. This would help in my decisions about change schedule. Thanks for the info.

    Hey Mike,

Last year I put on almost 35,000 km's (~21,700 miles) but I change my air filter at least twice a year (~12,000 km's).

My air filter gets pretty dirty in that time period. I believe Honda recommends every 19,000 miles. To me, this is a "inspect every other oil change" deal and replace when it's getting nasty rather than going by mileage ... depending on your environment, it may need changing more frequently than the manual states.

Thanks jeff, I am doing it less frequent, but with the air quality in Utah aka. Salt lake Valley, I should look at doing it more to your speed. I agree its not a interval change but a inspection change.

At 6,000 miles per year, I would just change it once at the beginning of every year and inspect.

    Cheers!
