Just looking through the latest edition of the Australian Motorcycle News and hello - A story on Aprilias V4 Superbike. The road going version wont be on the showrooms for another year but the thing that really caught my eye was the short description of the engine.

"The new V4 engine (65 degree) is expected to be narrower than the current RSV Vtwin engine. This is due to a lateral cam-chain driving only the inlet cam, with a pair of gears that re-transmits drive to the exhaust cam".

Are we paying attention Mr Honda?

As for the racing bike - it should be ready to go for 2008 and with a projected 210hp! Cant wait to hear that baby howl.

The gear driven cam VFR's of the past prove that Honda can build an almost bullet proof engine.. With Aprilla V4 why use a chain period and not just go all gear driven cams? where there is a chain , there is a weak link such as "tensioners"...
