My guess is that you keep the same product name and make the bike bigger for existing customers as we get older and want more comfort instead of agility. Not a problem, but I'm enjoying my '99 and its 57 inch wheelbase just fine.

Too costly in my book. almost $16,000 for a shaft drive sport touring machine.. Hmmm buy the Kawasaki concours and have $$$ left over. I am not looking for a sport touring machine.

I will be keeping my 99VFR until Honda actually comes out with another REAL V4 VFR that has the Gear driven cams as I have experienced cam chain tensioner BS on other Honda Mcycles.

Can't say that I'm excited about the VFR 1200.

Maybe it's the insurance cost, or the inflated purchase price, or manufacturers building bigger and more complicated just because they can, or maybe it's just because I'm a bit jaded after buying my '05 VFR new and having it lose power on me a couple of times and then having to eat the cost of repairs.

Whatever the case may be I'm glad that the 1200 isn't as prominent on the main page.

Unfortunately the 1200 has convinced me that my next bike will not be a VFR. Too bad. A few tweaks here, coupled with some practical stuff and we could have had a new generation VFR, well priced and an all around bike!

I crossed the nation on the new 1200 and found no issues. Nearly 3000 miles and this machine does not dissapoint.

    I agree with your concerns.
A first year bike and too many gadgets to go wrong.
Paddle shifting, double clutches, fly by wire, electronic voodoo.
It is supposed to be a motorcycle. Not another computer device to fail on us.
Everything covered in plastic panels and black boxes on every system.
    We need a MOTORCYCLE.
What is it going to do next? drive by itself?

    Me, too!

I'm sure many will like the new bike. Rich people I'm guessing. The 1200 costs 3 times what I paid for my used '91 back in 94. My income sure as hell hasn't tripled! I don't know where Honda thinks the buyers will come from, but I'd like to know where they work!

Don't know what Honda is thinking but they've lost the vision of what has made the VFR great for so long. I'll keep my 97, thanks.

I think Honda set their sights squarely on BMW with this bike. I'm eagerly anticipating the touring version. I was hoping the front end would remain the same. Although strange looking in pictures, it is very refined and unique. Even classy I'd say...
Like most things Honda, from lawn mowers to cars, it's a bit overpriced...

Cycle world did a shootout and new VFR was one of the least desirable bikes by all testers.
Kawi smoked them all and new Truimph came 2nd followed by Ducati and last place VFR.
Slow speed handing or handling in general was the main issue.
