I'm pretty much a MOTGATT person, but this is just wrong even by my standards

    Patently Absurd

There's even a motorcycle airbag jacket: Motorcycle Airbag Jacket - webBikeWorld

And this company makes motorcycle airbag jackets: motoair.com

I have to say I'm intriqued with this idea. I'd rather crash with an airbag around me than just hard plastic and leather.

I had to look up the full patent on this!
In my search found some other handy motorcycle bits from 1989 that never hit it big, unless I'm missing something.
Here's another illustration from the airbag suit pattent (all numbers appear if you care to read the patents yourself):

Before the camelback there was the motorcycle visor water holder:
    Visor Water.jpg
If you "put 'er down", the visor would crack, pour cold water on your face and keep you from passing out.:biggrin1:

And before the LED was the lighted footpeg:

Who would be caught in the dark without these? Safety first! Until you cracked the bulb with your boot.:frown:

You would crash - cause all that stuff your wearing would prevent you from steering/operation the bike. Might as well wear a strait jacket.

Our receptionist had a good point when I mentioned the bag suit to her. She commented that when it was all over all they had to do was punch a hole in the suit to let the gas out and the rider would be all bagged up and ready for the morgue!

Dainese has an airbag leather. It pops out of the collar and protects the head and neck.
