This is more for the earlier vfr gen's. The Barber Motorsports Museum has their 11th Annual Vintage Festival coming up in October, 9th to 11th. It's a pretty awesome place on its own and I've been there on a regular day but the event is suppose to be pretty freaking amazing. Don't miss it if you can help it.

Not to the Vintage festival, just track days there but I have heard a lot of the guys talk about it. I did 2 track days right after the festival and they were still excited about it. Mr Barber throws one hell of a party.

Its a must if you are anywhere near Leeds, Alabama. I've been going regularly since the 5th show. The museum by itself is worth the trip.

Personally, I'd like to know why in the hell they chose that place for a location to setup shop. To me it seems just as odd as picking Cleveland OH for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. (Yeah I know, the word was invented there, bfd, still a lame location.)

I think because the guy who built it (the racetrack, the facilities, the museum) lives there.

I started going on the 6th one and was there last year for the 10th. It is my favorite place to be. If you love motorcycles and motorcycle people without the creepy Harley rally vibe, then you will like this event. It's top quality all the way down the line. I have even met George Barber a couple of time. He walks around the museum and no one knows who he is.

Mr. Barber is from there. His family owned a huge dairy farming business. Everyone thinks he all motorcycles but he actually got into them after his race car days. Its the largest motorcycle museum in the world and he's supposedly got a giant warehouse with as many or more in it as the museum. He rotates out bikes. I have met him too, he's around a lot and can often be seen in the museum as Big Jim said. Porsche runs their driving school out of there and many other manufactures use the facility for secret testing. Its a bad ass track with elevation and great layout. I have seen VFR's on it while doing track days.

If you have any appreciation for motorcycles, especially the vintage stuff, it's a must-do. The museum itself is worth the trip. Really first class...

Last year, on the bottom floor they had the roll up door open to the "back room!" It was amazing. The floor was full of display bikes and around the walls were racks with bike stacked like book on a book shelf. I looked to my left and, under one of the racks, I saw four or five TZ racing Yamahas sitting there. You can spend days in the museum but during Vintage Days there is too much to see at the track to spend all day there.

If ever the apocalypse is given advanced 24 hour warning, expect to find me here. Just one last look before all that is good is destroyed.
