Battery r/r question 2008 vfr??

I've seen a lot of r/r and battery related questions on here so I'm curious if anyone has any sage advice for me. I've had my bike for two years and a month ago the battery just went dead. I charged it and it started up fine for 3 weeks. Today, it worked fine in the morning and out of nowhere it just went dead. My question is, is it possible for a damaged r/r to drain the battery after 3 weeks?? I have a warranty and I believe the r/r would be covered, I just don't like dealing with the Honda dealership. So before I break down and let the dealership look at it I wanted to see if anyone thinks it might be something else? Thanks in advance.
