Battery...I will let someone else step up to the plate on that one. I can't possibly see how HID's will affect steering. I have full HID on mine. A four light system. What I found out though, is you need to make sure you only have your low beams on when you fire up the bike. Otherwise you blow fuses "every" time. Once the low beam warms up, like maybe 15 seconds, then you can switch the highs on and off at will. But this could be unique to my brand of HID. Which I DO NOT recommend. The ballasts on them are shit. They have a life time warranty but that is little consolation when you always have to replace the ballast.

I have four pair of these things on two vehicles and have replaced on warranty, I think four or five ballasts in a 2 year period. So, DON'T BUY "NOVA" BRAND HID's.

I think batterys are kinda like - whats the best oil and whats the best beer? AGM is the latest tech, and probly the way to go. If you are adventurous, check out a LiFePO4 battery, Shorai is one, MOTY is another. Not recommended to sit overnite outside in 40s or less temps though. Bring in the house for that. -- The tech isnt there yet. - I'm running a MOTY. Weighs 2 pounds and super small. - Coolness.

btw caveat - I am not a battery guru....

The previous owner of my 07 rwb installed an hid four light system. I don't know what brand, but it has been flawless. Having said that, I am going to convert at least the high beams back to halogen as they are just not necessary and also they take too long to warm up if you need to flash another driver. The low beams are so bright that I'm a bit worried about being pulled over for them and I just don't want to give Smokey a reason to talk to me. The bike also came with a Shorai Lithium battery and it has also been exemplary.
