I'm interested to know how many here have put their VFR down the 1/4 mile.
I did today, did 8 runs all up.
First run was ordinary with a 13.541, as the day wore on i get better with each pass and ended up with a best of 12.157.
Bike has Staintunes only, no other mods.

Since a thread like this is useless without pics, here is the ticket and i am rider 145 obviously. The other time on this ticket belongs to a '98 GSXR 750, so did fairly well and only got pipped at the end.

I see that you are in Australia. I am in Southern California myself. I would like to take my Interceptor down under and go for a ride. I have the Black 06 with Givie windscreen and luggage I also have installed Heli bars for the long hauls. It is nice to know that the GSXR didn't leave you in the dust. I have ridden a GSXR and wow it moves.

You know that would be fun. Been a long time since I've run anything at the drags, last bike was my built Z1-900 yea I'm dating myself. kinda lost interest due in part to the track closing down and the next one is like a 2hour drive away, now I'm more into zipping around the track.

Motorcycle magazine gives corrected 1/4 mile et at 11.26 or so for the vfr. Am supposing that is completely stock.

What I found interesting was the 2.9sec 0-60 time.

I believe I can get damn close to that one... may lose some in the full quarter, though as I'm not the best shifter...

No it just looks wet, it's the rubber/vht surface, and it's darn sticky too. Feels like your walking on glue and provides great hook up for the tyre on take off.

I ran my third gen a few times when I lived in Kansas. It was hard to launch wit the tall street gearing but managed pretty consistent 12.2 ets at 112 to 115mph. Not really fast but enough to keep the other fellas honest! I beat a few R1's and one Bussa that just couldn't get her launched. The Bussa passed me about a foot past the 1/4 mile mark at 150+ but it was too late and he had to face the shame of being beat by 78rwhp on a 15 year old bike. It was fun but brutal on the clutch!!

Last time I was at the strip was on my 4th gen - I was running 12.2's with me babying the clutch - couldnt get any lower than that.

I'm gonna try my 5th gen sooner or later - wonder what she'll do.

MSD is starting to make some starting line rev limiters, I have a buddy that MSD used his cbr for testing, dropped 6 tenths off of his et. They are looking for some other bikes now for testing, and yes I already offered my vfr, but its not on their "list" yet
The unit can be adjusted so you give it full throttle with the clutch in, it will hold rpm to where you set it, he has his at 8k, dumps the clutch, wheelies about a foot in the air, then starts shifting, just like the pro stocks, its waay cool

Was this your first time at the strip? Alot of fun, was'nt it?!?! With more seat time, you should be about to drop the 60's down into the 1.8's-1.9's. That alone(as long as you don't shoot the front end up after the 60) should drop your et's by .4 or so in the 1/4. The key to quick et's is an aggressive yet VERY smooth 60'. A strap on the front end will help keep the front end down and allow even better et's.
Be careful, running down the dragstrip can be addicting!
