    Hello,

I recently went down while riding my 84 VF1000f. The bike runs fine still but the front end wobbles when exceeding 20mph and there's is a lot of cosmetic damage. I believe the front forks are bent causing the bike to wobble but I have no experience working with forks. I was wondering what the best option would be for me in this situation. Should I buy new forks and try to replace them or should I just sell the bike. I can post pictures if necessary. Thanks in advance.

    Pictures are required by law.

Personally I'd find a replacement, unless you have an emotional attachment to it.

How much do you think I should ask for the bike? Also would vfrworld be the best place to list it on?

Maybe a bent wheel? Missing wheel weights?

Don't worry, someone that knows what they're talking about will be along shortly.

Just thought I'd give this a bump in case someone might have some input.

I personally would loosen the lower triple clamp bolts and fender bolts (brace to forks) and make sure that the front end isn't "bound" or twisted a little from the crash. Also, see if you can notice if they seem bent right under the lower triple clamp, this is usually where bends appear if crashed hard enough.

You've kept the bike neat and tidy, so don't sell it now. Get the front end up, and remove the fork caps and springs. Lift the wheel up as far as possible, checking for any binding, which would indicate bent forks. Any hit hard enough to bend forks might have also damaged head bearings.

Thanks for the advice, I'll check everything you guys mentioned and see where to go from there.
