    Brake Line

    Tom,

Looks good....One thing that worries me a little, is the angle that the Rear - 3 brake line is sitting . Could get caught one day....

    Angled fitting , perhaps?

Off to Shanghai tomorrow for a week, then Bangkok. Dont think I will see any VF1000R / F in those countries...

    All the best ...........Peter

Gorgeous. Didn't know you could get enough travel on a set of inverted forks for those bikes. What type of bike did they come off of?

    Hi Peter,
I`ll reroute it so it`s a bit more out of the way once I dissassemble and paint the rear caliper to match the fronts. Also have a CRF450 rear master cylinder with a built in reservoir and a smaller piston diameter for a bit more pressure that I may try.

It`s not the travel, it`s the total fork length and clearance on these you have to worry about. The travel is less than stock, and much better controlled than the 25 year old stock forks, and the forks are shorter than the stocker which helps to drop it down in the front and quicken the steering.

If the fork legs were not long enough, the front tire would hit the center of the front valve cover on full braking or full bump.

These forks are from a 2002 RC51 and the top triple is a LSL meant for a CBR929/954 so I get additional drop from the dogleg top triple.

I know you mentioned this back when you were first building the F, but where did you find the rear caliper?

Too bad those RC51 complete front ends are so expensive or I would be tempted to do that to one of my VF1000's. I guy can dream, right?

    Here ya go Jamie:

    ??????????????????????????-???????????-

They`re not too bad these days. Well, I take that back, the forks aren`t too bad. Add the wheel/rotors/calipers/triples/master cylinders/new levers/brake lines/grips/powdercoating/bearings/seals......I guess it kinda adds up.

Still less expensive now than the first one I put on my R....

Shop around, I paid $750 for a complete front end w/out a fender. That included a set of Pazzos.

CF fender looks great btw.
