bought a bike and rode it for 3 weeks. broke down when i was at work and had to push start it to get it home. i changed the oil there and then charged the battery. now when i try to start the bike the t.a.c goes up and the lights come on but no noise. should i get a new battery or is it something else. pls help, im rather new at this stuff. ---- thanks

Not sure ..I never owened "80's " VFR....my 91 had the same problem....sounds like the RR failed....
I would check the battery first...just pull it out and take it to the local AUTO zone have them test it.

Good Luck...with older bikes more things can go wrong...
Could also be starter is failing..
