Interesting I like deals, thing is for me I've heard of Elka, just no history with them, this raises the question are they worth it? you're the first one I've heard of that has one. Being for the 5th gen, aftermarket is getting like what some say, rocking horse poo.

I think its definitely worth it. I haven't heard of any other shock that has independent high and low speed compression, plus rebound, preload and ride height height adjustability. Remote hydraulic preload adjustability was a hundred dollar option, but I didn't have the money to blow on that luxury. Like I said the shock has been great for me for the past year, so I think its definitely worth it. It looks like they are selling for $999 with remote preload and $899 with standard preload. Looking through my records, I paid $755 on it in September last year, so I would send them an email and shoot an offer of $750.

Definitely worth a look for sure, since for the last 4 months I haven't had any luck finding the mysterious Ohlins. Might as well start looking at options other than the regular 929 swap. thanks.

The problem is, even though ohlins are great, to get a fully adjustable one, you're looking at like $2000.

Yep, though I found an Ohlins in stock in France for the 5th at $1400 with free shipping, whoppie...Not so.. Looking at Elka web site, I'm not sure about how that reservoir blob adjustable reach fits there that's on top, but that aside. They say there shock for the VFR fits 98- 09 Go figure that??????? guess a call is in order. I find this to be the norm for most shock fitment as the 5th gets tied into the 6ths, not sure if they have an adapter or what. again more ????

That's a generic stock photo, not the actual shock. Mine came with a remote reservoir at the end of a foot long hose that I attached to the back of the left hand passenger foot peg. I that the 5th / 6th gen shocks were interchangeable besides the fact that the shock length was a little longer on the 5th. The shocks are supposed to be custom built so you can specify a length and weight etc... Also they are ride height adjustable, so you could probably make up the difference either way with either shock on either bike. Here's the actual shock.

Ok, that explains it. in the mean time, I found a couple good reads here and on VFRD (sorry) where guys are having a good time on em. Just odd to me I haven't heard much about these, but then my suspension get it together with WP was back in 06. Was that tricky to mount the reservoir? standard stage 4 with out the remote hydraulic adjustable thingamajig right? I like. It's starting to look like there's hope in getting a good suspension piece with out robbing the banking.

It wasn't hard to mount the reservoir. It came with a nice bracket. It was cake.

Princess Auto has a 1,000lb motorcycle lift table on for $333.33 if you live in Canada.

I believe Harbor Freight has one for $299 for you 'Muricans!

Nice thanks for the photo, is that the RR I see? or one of those new finagled magic Rapid boxes? I see the rear sets, nicem with a shifter gizmo to boot, that sure looks like a larger rear sprocket too, all good. ;)

Haha yeah that's the Shindengen FH020AA MOSFET RR. I mounted it there so its the shortest possible stator>RR>battery path plus in cool air flow at all times. It should last forever back there.

Schuberth C3 and S2 helmets are going for less than $400 right now ($329 & $375 respectively at Revzilla) It's a Schuberth sale so any Schuberth reseller should be offing at the discounted price.

Close but no cigar. That doesn't have split high and low speed compression circuits. Still a lot of adjustments on an ohlins for the price though.
