born again rider PLEASE HELP

    Hi everyone just returning back to 2 wheels after about 14/15 years out of the saddle bought myself a 94 vfr 750 got it insured first run out did about 125 miles 1 mile from home and you guessed it the f##kiin thing broke down but not letting it put me off got it home it turns out broken wire from rectifier to battery after checking it out wires are getting hot so looked on fleebay for rectifier ond it looks like someone in the past has wired the wrong rectifier into the circut old type with 7 wires my bike has only got 5 3 yellows 1 black 1 red what i need to know if anyone can help is i know the 3 yellow go to the top 3 pins but is there any specific order and also which way does the red and black go on the other 2 pins and does anyone know where i could get a connector that plugs into rectifier thanks in advance :confused::thumbsup:

    lol okay here's what it is, unless someone did it different, yep all 3 yellows go across the top. Now when plugged in from the bottom with the next two, is the red/white is on the the bottom of the two the other one is green, not black, both by the shop manual and what I have, excuse me, had,... hope that helps. Bubba Zenta here gave me the lead to this fix, the part number in where it is the same plug used on what I recall the Pacific Coast. Get a hold of Service Honda @ 1-800-828-5498

    Or go on their website and order. Even though the part doesn't say its for a VFR (4th gen), trust me, it fits.

    thanks for reply's just been reading on another website that it getting hot is normal and that is what causes them to fail i've joined the wires back together and checked voltage i get 14.5 volts on tickover and when i rev it up i get 16 volts is this normal or is it too high meaning rectifier failure cheers Allan
