    Hi all,

At differing times I get the sensation that there is something crawling around the entrance to my ear.

    Man its annoying.

I don't want to just spray with flyspray and toxify myself.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

I have noticed that I am developing ear hair but don't think its the cause. Anyone got experience in this area.

BTW - I have no idea what the bugs might be.

Do you hear things too? Are people watching you? Is you phone bugged? How about a camera in your TV? When you hit Ctrl/Alt/Ins, does your computer suddenly show porn pictures? ( you tried that didn't you?)

It is always possible that some spyder or something has nested in there but highly un-likely. But to be on the safe side, and to put your mind to rest before you loose it, Pull the liners out and wash them. While you are at it, wash the rest of the helmet too. If it persists, pluck your ears!

Remember you're not paraniod, they really are out to get you.

Wear earplugs or sound isolating earphones all times you are riding any distance, I wear Sennheiser cx300 II headphones connected to my Zumo for Touring but make sure you clean them beginning each ride with an anti bacteral wipe or if you drop them. I made they mistake once of not cleaning them properly after dropping on the ground at a Servo finding the 3 second rule does not apply to earphones as it left me with an ear infection that lasted 3 months and 4 courses of Antibiotics to clear.

Like Randy said, give it a good wash.

I was thinking about suggesting you put it in the freezer for a day, but I don't know if that would be good for the materials used in the construction process that actually save your coconut in the event of a crash.

No it isn't bugs crawling beneath my skin ;)

I'll give it a good clean and ear plugs are a good option.

Then I can focus on my other paranoid delusions....

Yer I have a mate who regularly does that, key in disgusted Sideshow Bob sound going off in my head. He has the attitude what doesn't kill you makes you stronger he's not dead yet so must be working for him.

+1 on the earplugs. +1 on helmet wash. Ive had the same thing (maybe it's the Sydney Water). I put it down to a hair that was previously on my head is now loose and ticking my ear at 80km/h.

Bugs have found their way inside my helmet several times while riding. It's a bit disconcerting to hear them buzzing around in there and crawling on my face. Can't really do anything about it except open the visor and pull over and remove the helmet. Haven't had a mean hornet in there yet, and can't imagine how I'd react. I'll likely find out some day.

I went to a picnic once and set my helmet on a towel that was on the grass. 5 minutes into the ride home I felt something moving around and pulled over. The damn thing was full of ants... NOT my idea of a good time!

If your liners are not removable (mine aren't), there is a spray called Helmet Care made by Motorex that is a spray on/wipe off foam. It works pretty well. What I started doing last year was wearing a "do-rag" under my helmet to prevent hair oil and sweat from soaking into the liner. That seems to help extend the period between cleanings, even though I'm mostly bald on top.
