My 4th gen. has 26,000 miles now, chain almost at its end of adjustment. Manual says to remove the swingarm, is that right. Can I use a mastered link chain? Thanks.

RIGHT ON SCHEDULE ! OEM chains are almost always worn out by 20-25,000 miles. No need for swingarm removal. Find a set of sprockets and QUALITY rivet-link chain for about $180 online. Usta be there were only about 3 or 4 chain Name-Brands equal to OEM quality. Paying much less means you'll be buying junk. Not a tough job but things can go wrong without proper chain-pressing tools. Read up !

Leave the swing arm in place. No need for an expensive press kit. Go to Cycle gear their chain tool kit, it's like $60 but usually on sale for $20. Don't bother using the removal tool part of it, it sucks. Just use a grinder or dremel, should take less than a minute. The press in the kit works great. Shop around for best prices online. I got lucky and caught a sale for my chain from the local Cycle Gear.

I got my last 3 sprocket/chain kits from sprocketcenter.com good prices, wide selection, and easy to adjust sprocket sizes.
