I was wondering How long should a chain Last? Mine has 15000 miles on it. My Mechanic at the dealership said it was fine about a month ago.

As you would presume, that greatly depends on what care is taken of it....riding conditions, how it it stored, how often it is lubed, cleaning frequency, properly adjusted, riding style (aggressive), brand/type of chain....etc....seems like most chains last 25k to 30k for me. I think that 20-25k is the average for folks.

back on topic though........ My bike has 33K on it & I dont think its been changed. I am not the original owner, but dont remember him telling me he changed it & he was pretty good about maint. its @ the end of its life though. the sprokets look bitchen, but the chain is @ the end of adjustment.

Boy oh boy all these chain questions, did I start something or what? LOL yea 20-25K should be pretty close to the norm, also time in this case is irrelevant, I've seen chains 20 years old and still work and look like new, even thou you'd expect that for one stored properly that and it had all but 10k on the machine.
