    Hello fellow listers,

    Guess what I found?

Remember those silly little plastic rivets Honda likes to charge an arm and a leg for?

Well I found 'em, and better than OEM. With the stock pieces, I was always frustrated at how the fine thread would strip. Seems as though I could never back the damn things out. The ones I found have about half the thread pitch of the stockers, and, as such are MUCH easier to back out. They seem to fit "snugger" (is that a word?) than stock, and I for one thing this is a good thing.

And where are these little gems, you might ask? No further than your local Pep Boys. They go under the brand name of Rivet-Rite in the Help section. I'm not sure of the other stores nation wide, so maybe we can get some other listers to check out the local part stores (Checkers, Kragen, Auto Pro, etc.) Also, maybe we can find these guys online or order them through an online distributor. I lost the damn box and will try to get another for part numbers and such.

How much? You get two rivets for a buck fifty... SEVENTY FIVE CENTS EACH!

I can't remember how much my local Honda Dealer reamed me for one of these, but I'm pretty sure it was at least four times that.

I hope this is an original discovery, searches through the archives revealed little but frustration.

The Plastic Moly fasteners( Rivet-Tite brand) from Pep-Boys are part # 47954. You will need to enlarge the hole in the bodywork to get them to work properly , or else the plastic screw's threads will "strip". Approx. $1.79/set of 2

Lowe's has "Push/Pull - Pin" Type fasteners(like Suzuki , but better) Textron brand, Part # 01314. Same thing about the hole being enlarged. The best thing about these is the price. $.79/set of 2 !!

I wanted to ask anyone with a CA bike who has successfully thwarted the emissions on his or her 94-97 bike to drop me a Line

    Hope this helps someone,

    Sean Connors
