Cherohala Skway + Tail of Dragon ride May 15-16

Well, the sun is finally coming out and melting snow off the ground. Plus I've been saving up bribe money for the :mod:

I'd like to go on cherohala skyway and check out the tail of the dragon as well. Anyone want to come along? In case you can't tell, this is gonna be an all day ride, so clear out the calendar, tell your wife an emergency came up or tell your boss you came down with a 24 hour bug.

Last year I went with a member here (GeorgiaRider) and his buddies. It was a freaking blast and I had the sore to prove it.

I'm open for both may 15th and 16th but I understand not everyone has as much free time as I do so I'm creating this thread to get everyone's input and we can make up a more solid date.

I'm thinking of meeting up at the intersection of Hwy 515 and GA 60 at the Kangaroo gas station. VFRDiscussion is having our annual memorial ride that weekend based out of Franklin, NC. There will be lots of VFR's in the area!

 

count me in Joey....are we going to make it a sat/sun trip...i say ride cher. pkwy, then up to the tail...stay the night up there, ride the tail again, ride some more, and then head back..how's that sound..either way count me in....K

Dude, you need to change your route and take 60 instead. How could you bypass 60 on the way to Morganton? That's my favorite road down there, tsk tsk, haha!

Well, ahem, I was planning on riding part of 60 on the way to cherohala skyway. It's kind of nice, just a little too many residential areas for my taste. I don't like hauling ass in someone's front yard.

I checked out the VFRD link about the franklin meetup and frankly, I don't care for all the planning and categorizing of rides. I just wanna go on a freaking ride not join a committee. At least if we run into them I'll give them the VFR salute.

I just checked out the VFRD post - they've got T-shirts! I'm pretty impressed with their planning. I could even take off Thursday and ride with those guys. I don't have to be monogomous do I?
