In 2004 a Brit named MikeO retired from his job in England and decided to come to America. After many months of planning he crated and shipped his motorcycle to Florida where he began and recorded his journey. He documents each leg of his travel and gives his observations from the prospective of a Brit. He originally posted his adventure on the Adventure Rider forum. I didn't find his posts until he was well into his travels. Many members quickly began to follow his posts. I wasn't a member but I followed them too. He talks about taking hours to upload photos over a modem, yes a modem well before high speed internet. There are 64 pages to his adventure. He describes how grateful he is to the Americans he's met along the way who have been most helpful when he's run into trouble along the way be it assistance with parts and repairs a few have offered him a place to sleep and invited him to dinner. Many motorcyclists and enthusiasts have helped make his journey a pleasant one. I wonder how many of us would crate up our bikes and ship them overseas to begin an adventure. I hope you find his story as interesting as many of us did back then https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/coming-to-america.41209/
