Corbin saddle

Corbin posted their new seat for the 14-15 VFR800 today, one piece, optional back rest for the wife, no height choice, mounts at the lower setting, thicker and wider so it sits at 32 inches which would be equivalent to the higher setting. Have to wait to see some reviews.

 

Would be nice if they made a two piece seat...... Be nice to have the option for single seat.

 

I'm not impressed with my Corbin for my 6th gen for what I paid. I got the one with the back rest for my wife but she still isnt that comfortable. It looks nice but was damn expensive.

 

I agree with both, had a Corbin for my st1100 years ago..hard as a rock, had Sargeant build me one from stock base...that was an all day saddle!! Two pieces would have been nice from Corbin, but then some would have opted for just the back for the back rest.

 

Ive got a sargent too. I also like it better. Only complaint on the sargent is its very slippy. Like I slide around on it, idk whats up with that but I like it better than the Corbin, my wife though, not so much.

 

They're both expensive. I think my ass is hard enough to continue riding the stock version. I've done it for 12 years now. Heaven forbid I quit being a hard-ass. ; )

 

Just go get yourselves one of these and install it yourself. Way cheaper than Corbin or Sargent but you get the same result.

I was mostly interested in a backrest. I am basically good with the stock seat.

 

Ah, gotcha ... though I'm not sure how you'd use a backrest on a VFR as the rider, I could understand as the pillion ....

LOL! Ahh, ok. That makes sense for pillion then.

Just throw a Givi trunk on it and buy the backrest padding kit for it.

 

The Honda top box's have backrests on them.

 

I've had a 1990 vfr750 and now ride a 1995 vfr750. Both had a Corbin seat. Yes they are hard, but being so they give great support. Soft seats cause discomfort over the long haul not hard ones. The stock seat on my 1995 causes me great discomfort after half an hour, whereas I rode 1400 k on the Corbin in 13 hours without any problems whatsoever.

 

The Corbin on my 7th Gen is beautiful!
However, the seat design is terrible!!
I'm 6'2" yet i'd have to be 7' tall to reach the back of the seat for comfort.
Even with bar-risers I must sit near the front of the seat - which is comfortable.

My Opinion:
Unless your 7' tall, pick another seat besides Corbin.

 

Entertained the Honda or givi, just gave Corbin seat a look cause seat is less $$$ than Honda. But I suspect that seat will be so wide it will make getting feet on ground difficult.

... and you got storage ... Givi has them too, it's just a pad kit you buy from them that attaches to the trunk of your choice.

 

Givi's rack system, especially for the panniers, detracts from the looks of the bike. The Honda panniers clip right on with no need of a fitting kit. Also the Honda rack looks better.
