    Thanks for takin the time
I,m sure all these answers are somewhere but just to confirma few things.

Bike is a 2000 (red of Course) vfr

    1. Looking to drop a front tooth as it made worlds of difference on my drz and vtr. My honda dealer is far and I have to pay to order and I want an original sprocket, will the 02 16t fit on my year.

    2. Considering an injector balance, which would require me to buy the nanometer, can this balance be done without unplugging the map sensor. You tube has a bunch of videos on other bikes where it is simple, but ours, I don't know. Not a huge deal if I have to have honda reset it, again they are not close and it will be an entire day and lord knows how much for them to simple cancel the code.. Wanna do it right but these forums are all about sharing info and saving us owners some cash to spend on farkles.
Thanks for any info and tid bits of help.

You can always drop one tooth on almost every motorcycle made. Not a problem.
On my VF1000R I could NOT ADD one tooth however. That is a little unsual.

i would go with the recommendation that Betarace suggested if he has actual experience with it. because it will save you money rather than just guessing.

IT will not affect the speedo.
-1 on the front is equal to about 3 teeth on the rear.
Keeping the larger front sprocket and adding the teeth to the rear WILL make the chain and sprockets have a longer life. A rear sprocket may cost a little more.

I removed teeth on my VF1000R to get a lower rpm at cruising speed on the freeway. went from 45 to 37 teeth. My first gear is usable and my high gear would exceed my speedo capacity.

Re-setting the trouble code in your ECM is no big deal, all you need is a small piece of wire or paper clip, just to short out the terminals @ the test connector as per the manuals instructions. If you're good enough to balance your own engine, you can clear the codes afterwards!

Going up 2 teeth on the rear will require a longer chain. Make the change in the rear sprocket, changing the front will also impact the suspension. If you do go cheap, you will make up the cost in chain sliders.

Thanks for the replies, I never considered the vfr having chain slider issues but I remember the drz, it started at a 2 tooth less front, all bikes being different I kind of forgot about that possibility. I figured the front would be showing wear but at 12,000 miles, it looks factory condition. Gonna give her a set of plugs, I love the rough idle it has, kinda small block sounding. Fresh plugs just smooth out my chums 05 busa with 15 k so it can't hurt, if not I'll order in a nanometer and give it a shot. May call for help with the code thing, the manual I have is a clymers and I don't recall a code reset area, maybe only in the factory honda one. (of course my luck).
