Hello, I'm currently building a 1998 vfr800 and I have a slight issue. The bars are very off. quick little back story on the bike, it was dropped on both sides pretty bad by the previous owners, and the left handlebar use to hit the tank if titled even a little the left. I bought a new condition handlebar from a fellow 5th gen VFR owner thinking it would solve all my problems except now the left bar is perfectly straight and the right bar has a bend in it. If you have any ideas about what caused this or the solution please let me know.

Is this a joke? Cuz the way to "correct" this seems pretty obvious.

Or, are you saying that you have to put the bar there to keep it from hitting the tank when turned to the left?
If so, your steering stops on the frame are likely SERIOUSLY damaged. And/or your lower triple clamp.

Or did you get a bar advertised as correct for your bike, but the tab on the bottom forces the bar to locate there? Just grind the tabs off the bottom of both bars and put them where you want.

Still feel like I'm being trolled.

Is it possible that the lower triple tree could be off and the upper is crooked? Otherwise get another clip on for your right side and you should be good. That right clip on must have had its ears trimmed off because its "Off" Hi Capt

Would seem to me that the handlebar on the right was pushed out of adjust on one of those drops. Loosen the bolt clamping the raiser to the handlebars, adjust and tighten the riser clamp bolts. Drink more beer. Bob's your uncle.

Tabs on the bottom stop it from moving at all, just going to grind the tab off till it sits properly.

And you have have tab located at the "seam" of the triple clamp where the pinch bolts tightens it, not in front of it.

If you decide you need to grind (sometimes its a bolt with a torx head), do them both so you can fine tune both bars.
