Decoding an Australian identification plate and VIN

    I bought my VFR at the end of 2011. It was registered as a 2010 model and I assumed that was the year it was made, but whenever I ordered parts the listed model years stopped at 2009. I made a mental note to one day figure out exactly when it was made and its model year. Well, that day finally arrived. And, after an hour or so decoding the identification plate, I reckon I've worked it out (see my explanatory graphic below) — I've got a model year 2009 VFR, manufactured in Japan for the Australian market in June 2010:

    I assume the reason the model years end at 2009 in Honda's parts system is because 2009 was actually the final model year of the RC46, despite it continuing to be manufactured for some international markets (like Australia).
