Saw this cute little Bambi during my evening ride - I almost had a "fucked up day" as CycleCruza likes to say - LOL

Wait till they start crossing the road in front of you at 60mph then they aren't so cute. LOL

Smacking Bambi at 60mph can lend new meaning to the word roadkill.

Just talked yesterday to a guy who is a good rider who hit a deer on a Wing. Among other injuries, aside from a compound fracture of his collarbone, was a $28000 peso ambulance and chopper bill to get him to the hospital.

That blew me away too. Some places have insurance for that through the ambulance service. Might be interesting to check with the ambulance company that hovers at track days and schools to see how much it would cost for transport.

Yikes - was that US$ or pesos? 28,000 pesos is about $1,500 - still a pretty big bill but much more palatable than $28,000.

I just checked with a friend that I do track days with. We were at Jennings race track and a friend of his had a bad high speed get off and was flown down to Gainesville Shands hospital. Had to stay one night of observation. It was somewhere between 45 and 50K total!!!

He was riding near Cabo San Lucas and the hospital is in Anchorage. Both companies are owned by Donald Trump. I see you are on the East Coast. Here in the West we have been on the peso system for years. We are also on the 12 oz. pound system.

Better I suppose than the folks in Venezuela who are carting their money around in wheelbarrows. Maybe Trump will run for president down there come Xmas.

Part 2 - tonight there were 3 deer having what looked to be an orgy on the edge of the road - they didn't stick around once I gave them some revs from the V4 - lol

I agree, In the west we have antelope! 3 rides near or at dawn in Utah, Nevada and Colorado almost the same scenario. Worst one was in Nevada near Elko. 6 of us and me being 5th at 70-80mph just missed one coming across the road within a foot. And I mean A "foot" its hoof cleared my headlight on the left side of my vision as it went across. I saw it only within 2 seconds prior. Bad on me thinking that with 4 riders in front of me that this amazing, but deadly animal to riders would not jump out! We where about six to seven seconds apart except the guy behind me! He was 1000yrds behind me and in awe that I did not go down and so was I. I Had to sit on the side of the road for more of a couple of minutes to get composed. Life learning experience Riding near dawn or later in the mountains.

The dudes in Alaska have moose and bears. We got elk in my hood. The dudes in SA got all kinds of really bigass critters that will not only take ya out but eat what's left.. The dudes in OZ got roos, all making Bambi sort of drop to the bottom of the list of critters that will do ya in. Little old ladies and chickens excepted.

Damn! I left oot Florida who have a shitload of very large and hungry slithery creepy crawly critters who are not bike friendly or any other kind of friendly either..

i had a turtle out on the road recently, think of it as a high speed, "speed-bump" man if I was driving, I would have stopped and taken it to the other side of the road. Next day, could see the vultures picking at it. Would have been a disaster if you hit that chit I tell yah!.

I got a whirly bird ride out of Moroso back in the day, they have a fun that is funded by drunk drivers that covers those helicopter rides in emergency situations, glad too, I think it was over 5000 us dollars twenty years ago. Probably 20,000 now,. :peace: ride like your invisiable, and every one is out to kill yan, far as bambies go, I hit one in NJ with one of my trusty nighthawks, I hit it with my knee and knocked bambie out. Someone was looking out for me that night, parts of NJ at night are un-rideable. :peace:

In these parts, motorcyclists hit cows at night.
The last couple of cows have been black, so sux to even see them. But get any colored huge cow just standing on the road here in pitch dark and it's not good.

I read recently that there are many more deer in the upper 48 now than when Europeans first invaded the country. They aren't very cute any longer.

Geeze, BB, I read through the medical updates. What a tragedy. Hit a cow and you end up like that or dead. The last two riders died.
