I personally don't see the need for linked brakes since I never had a problem with any of the dozens of other bikes I've rode.

    KC-10 FE out...

Me, I like the linked brakes. To me it just feels more stable when shit happens. Should have steel braided brake lines though.

My VFR stops like no other bike I've ever owned (non ABS), so I guess that's an endorsement for linked brakes. ABS has me curious though, never ridden a bike that has it.

I like the brakes independent also, but it's not a major concern of mine. The braided cables idea I really like, though.

I'd say you need to ride one of the newer sportbikes if you really want to have the feeling of stopping. Yes VFR brakes are good but man those on the newer sportbikes are like what I'd want.

Personally I wouldn't want the ABS or linked brakes. And since people keep saying the bike needs to lose some weight I'd be curious to know how much weight those systems add to the bike.

Part of the reason the newer sportbikes stop so well, is nothing to do with thier brakes, its because the bikes are so light - less mass to stop.

Theory behind the linked brakes is sound. A bike is more stable if you have a little rear brake on, when braking hard. theres less dive, and it stops the rear end trying to overtake the front. If your a good rider, you wont notice any diference, as you will use more rear than than the linked brakes put on. So effectively you good riders wont use the linked brakes.

Although in an emergency, when your brain is in autopilot, and a kangaroo jumps out in front, you instantly hit the front, the delay until the foot gets onto the rear pedal is significant. With linked brakes, as soon as you hit the front brake, at least you get a little rear brake. I like em. Dont know what theyer like on ice though, when you really really need feel.

ABS = 5kg = 11lb more than the linked brakes

Linked brakes are practically same weight as the independant brakes
