Hey everybody, I just picked up a 1999 that has about 40,000 miles on it. I have the opportunity to pick up a 2001 with 15,000 miles on it. If I did that I would obviously sell the 99. My question is are there going to be ANY differences between these two bikes other than the mileage? Is there a reason to go after a 2001 model if this is the generation I like the most?

If the miles were the same, I'd take the 99 over the 01. Not catalytic converter and a normal fast idle lever ("choke").
But on a VFR of that era, they might as well be the same mileage engine wise. You just might have some chassis stuff that needs to be serviced on the 40K.

I'd take the 99 all day long, no Cat, no 02 sensors, no wax fast idle unit to worry about, also the bike has been ridden more, a bike with 15k could be a garage queen that was never ridden properly.
of course general condition etc would affect my choice, both are great bikes, if the 99 is in good nick I'd stick with it.

The 1999 one won't have the HISS system either, one thing less to worry about.
