What is the difference between the two? Is one more US or internationally oriented? Is there a reason to pick one of the other?

    Thanks

Like Joe, I'm a member of both sites. Plenty of good information and members on both sites and besides, if you have a question you need answered or something you might like to share, why not be a member on both. You may find that you spend more time on one site or the other, but both sites are great in my opinion.

WELCOME to the WORLD and enjoy.

No difference really. VFRD may have a few more senior members, but that is a good thing since their experience is a plus.

I'm a member of both for eightish years...... Each has a different feel. Seems that VFRW leans to more newbie VFR bike members and less technical wrenching guys. And VFRD then seems to lean to many members that are pure geek gearhead technical guys and plenty of bike builders/modder fooles. But yet again, most are members of both too.

Of course, here has Billy for daily zingers for entertainment.... :lemo:

They like starch over there. I belong to both but I think I spend a little more time here. Going on a VFRD ride end of July to the Kootenays. BUT IT AIN'T R3! Sure wished I was going there this year.

Member of both, in fact back in the day when it was first around It was my go to site then. Now not so. since the last hic-up over in VFRD land I haven't visited much. There's definitely a difference and why one is preferred over the other is hard to say, except for me, I personally know. I'd like to believe those here are just as tech savvy as those there since 90% plus are here as well. IDK.. but it has a different feel to it for sure.

VFRD moderators are the best at making sure your feelings don't get hurt.

VFRW members are a bunch of savage hooligan renegades on V4s

VFRD is a not for profit forum and VFRWorld is obviously a for profit site and as in most for profit sites, more is tolerated. VFRD is moderated fairly tightly with some good people as mods and a good person as the owner. I personally know many VFRD people and have ridden with many including the owner and mods. VFRD seems to have people more serious about what they do and more discreet in what they post and how they reply. At times this makes the place seem a little stuffy but just the opposite here. At times, it seems to be a little too loose here but I take advantage of that.... ; ) There's a place for both and both are good, so, to the OP, why does one have to choose one forum over the other?

Well said! Almost as well said as some of those badly translated sayings by a shitload of old Chinese guys.

What would really be interesting is for somebody to rate some of the harleydood forums..

Not sure where you get your information, however, VFRW is not a "for profit" site. We are in the hole each year, and voluntary "donations" are not required. Many of us put in money (including us mods/admin) to help keep the lights on because we love the site, and have gained a lot from it in many ways throughout the years. I gained many a friend and knowledge from it. Michael (site owner) also puts in his personal money or this place would be under. All donations are used for increased bandwidth, SW upgrades, and other site improvements and updates. VFRD collects donations as well, and its members even bought site owner (Miguel) a brand new VFR1200 several years ago. You don't see any of us riding a new viffer from our members, though that would not be a bad thing (hint hint).

(To the OP) That said, there is no reason to choose. Use both, use one, or use none, but check out both and form your opinions and judgement based upon your personal experience. You are welcome here, and you are welcome there. Both are great sites with a lot to offer and both are international.

    Cheers,
    Jason
