Yep, looks familiar. Right down to the center island with the liqs. I do appreciate that our BrewPub has hard alcohol too.

Holy shit... I think that's me on the far right at the bar obscured by the glass rack. That is a pre-pandemic pic.

So, I see this today and finally noticed the poll at the top..... looked at Noom to see what it was all about..... I don't know what goals you set, so given this seems to have turned into a beer thread, I say you're Doomed, not Noomed. If a beer is 150 calories or so and you have a couple, you gotta do a lot of excercise to burn that off just to break even....... whenya gonna start this Noom thing anyway?

Doomed it is. I gave up early on. I just didn't like fiddling with my phone all the time. I'm guessing it's targeting people younger than me than can't live without a cell.

I enjoy talking about beer much more, and I did tell my son I'd do a dry spell with him post turkey day and he wants to go veggie at the same time so I figured what the hell. The last time I went vegetarian and stopped drinking I dropped 20 lbs in a couple months.

My niece's daughter has opened a small brewery in Iowa. Limited supply of beers at the present time, but what I tried when I was up there was pretty decent. But it's in a small town, and I just can't see a future for a pub, and no food, with just a few sandwiches as food choice.

I try to hit the brewpubs when I'm out on the road. I'm not real fond of stouts and/or porters, but prefer dark ales.

Yeah, when I'm on a ride I try to avoid chain restaurants and eat local. Well, I guess I do that when I'm not on the road also but you know what I mean.
Yeah opening a pub and grub is tough. My son ran a very successful one that would do 60k a month, but it was very stressful and he burned out quickly. They weren't even brewing their own beer. Just cooking and serving decent kind of upscale pub grub, and I use upscale very lightly. Still very informal, but not just piles of grease on a plate. Actual plates and knifes and pint mugs, you know.

Have been trying a diet ( sort of) where you eat lunch and dinner but skip breakfast. I’m not a big breakfast person anyway so thought I would give it a shot. So lunch at 12 noon dinner by 6pm then Nothing till 12 the next day. Sensible meals, size and foods, and no snacks in between. Still have the odd drink though. 12 weeks in and I have lost 11 kg ( around 24lbs)
Have to say it’s the easiest way I have ever lost weight. Maybe not for everyone but it is working for me.

She doesn't even want to sell food, because of the hassles of getting a restaurant/eating establishment permit. I didn't say anything but I can't see them making it without having some kind of food menu. This is in a town of less than 7,000 people. I admire their ideas, but have trouble seeing the place become successful enough to support them. But, hey, I could be wrong.

I agree with staying away from franchise food, but man, it can be tough. I've been through lots of small towns where the only eating places were fast food franchises. Not a diner, or mom-and-pop eatery to be found. Although, I do seem to see more local places now than I did, maybe 20 years ago. But maybe it's just me being optimistic. As opposed to my sister who ate at Micky-D's in Paris, because, you know, you can count on the food. SMH. Small town Iowa girl.

That is called intermittent fasting and I have been doing that for a while now. It works well IF you don't drink a lot. In my case, I drink too much. That has always been my problem. Moderation does not seem to be something I am good at with beer. Food I have no problem moderating. I typically share a restaurant sized portion with another adult and we usually still have leftovers. Most likely I will continue to skip breakfast and only eat in the 8 hr "window" as they say. I don't usually feel like eating breakfast either.

Yeah in a town that size, that sure will be tough. Unless there isn't another "bar". I suppose if they are the only drinking establishment they can make enough to pay the bills. I think that drinkers are typically more of a hassle than diners in a small town, though.

Man, when I was in Britain, I tried all kinds of local stuff. I will eat most stuff from another culture. There are a few things I'm not sure about like the liquors formed by chewing and spitting it back into a pot, or things that are undercooked that make me nervous, or 'odd' things. I pretty much prefer the head to be gone from any meat I'm eating also.

It is amazing what alcohol will do.

My first wife enjoyed her drink. After we got married and she moved form Manitoba to the west coast with me, and away from the influence of family and friends, she lost a decent amount of weight. She flew back home for a vacation/family visit for about three weeks. Came back looking like she had gained 30 pounds. That went away very fast though as she was not drinking near as much at her new home than her family home. A couple years later, it did not matter to me. Maybe to the other guy but I didn't give a rats ass.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.... get some protein in you and kickstart your brain and metabolic process.... eat something that takes a long time to digest, low glycemic index....... light lunch and not a big dinner.
