Anyone ever had this: I was riding my 84 VF700F interceptor, and I went to use the turn signals, and nothing worked. The horn was also out, so I went home and replaced the fuse. When I did every light on the bike blinked, except the blinkers. Headlights, neutral light, everything. The only thing I had done was earlier that day I sprayed some lithium grease on the starter switch because it sticks. eventually the blinker relay burned out, I assume because it was getting too much power. I ordered a new one, but in the meantime I rigged some wires and bayonet plugs onto an automotive relay. The issue still exists. The other lights don't go out, they just dim a bit and go back to bright. I have looked at the wiring diagram, and can't find anything that makes sense. If there is a short, it would have to be someplace where there is power for everything, and it routes through the blinker relay. Unless it is a negative wire shorting, because every electrical thing is grounded. Anyone know where I should start? When I stared the ride, everything worked normal. Scott
Sounds like a grounding problem to me. I would methodically go through every ground connection on the bike (starting with the battery), take them apart, clean the terminals, and put 'em back together.
