I was at a local Honda dealer recently and chatted with a guy who owned this weird looking thing - a Honda DN-01. I don't think I've ever seen one before. The Honda mechanic who was checking its auto tranny also said it was the only one they ever get to work on. The owner said he bought it new and it still has less than 1,000 miles on it. Looks pretty cool but I looked up the specs and they are rather dissappointing - the VFR is a thoroughbred in comparison.

They also had a freshly sold '16 Repsol SP and a sweet looking '91 Nighthawk 750 with only about 10,000 miles - look at that engine!

I saw one in the flesh at my local dealer when they were new. Hideous. From then to now there have been so many amazing motorcycles that have made it to production but not to the US. I get the cost and production issues Honda has stated over the years from the other overseas markets but how the hell did this make it to our shores? This had to be an American Honda executive wet dream come true.

There used to be one around here. Absolutely ugly bike/scooter. Do Not Order 1 was what I heard all the time too!

If I am not mistaken, it was allegedly inspired by an anime movie called Akira.

    Do not order 1 LMAO!

Akira is a classic. Not sure how they got from Kaneda's bike to the DN-01!

That's what SHE said! "And she was right..." (in my best Ron White impression voice)

Actually, maybe that should go in the You Know You're Old thread... :D

Have always been interested in the DN-01.. but kinda over-priced.
Even more interested in the NM4 Vultus, closer to Kaneda's bike?

It would be hysterical to mod that with a good suspension and turbo it, then bomb past people on the track! I guess you would have to lose the floorboards tho.

Actually, when you have more weight carried down low towards the ground level, bike doesn't need to lean as far to corner faster... unless you're drifting every corner.

Must be the "back east" version of the Honda Pacific Coast.

I always thought it looked like a hybrid scooter/mototrcycle. Like it couldn't decide which it was.
