I've been building CB750 SOHC ground up for years, and loved to run them hard and sports tour on them as well.
I crashed one (fool crossed the centre line and nailed me) bad about 7 years ago and never thought I'd ride again.
I got an 03 Volusia 5 years ago and that was ok, sedate, comfy; you know...good on the long haul and nice to look at...

Last month I bought a VFR and will never look back. I just got home from a tour through the Rockies from Victoria to Calgary the hard way. I have only one word for my pristine Viffer... "refined."
The longest run I did was Calgary to Waterton, south to Logan's Pass (Run for the Sun)...then West to Kalispell and SandPoint, then North to Creston and Nelson. 14 hours and I was tired but feeling like I had had what I was looking for. Lots of twisty fast stuff and even more wide open vistas with the odd run up some twisties for view then back into the long hauls. The machine never let me down, ran fast and true and at one point I got to hanging off the corbin with a knee down to keep going through the tight stuff. I love this thing. It really is a fine machine.
