Just wondering if any body has one fitted, and what effect on strengthening the forks it does if any?.

It should have a factory brace on it. It's that polished aluminum piece on top the front fender between the forks. Yours gone? What year is yours?

86-89 vfr's dont have factory fork braces, but i HAVE seen current production braces on ebay. honestly, with the way my front end dives under hard braking, i really wish i had one on my bike.

at around $130, it looks like a worthwhile buy for one of these bikes.

I made a heavier one for my 85vf1000r and love it. factory brace is alittle wimpy for such a heavy bike. But it really does not effect the dive under braking much. It really does more to keep forks from flexing under hard cornering. Which in turn helps the front wheel track better.

I had Jamie Daugherty make me a custom brace for my VF750F restoration project, which I am using VF1000R forks on. I hate the looks of the R fender, so this brace serves two purposes. It braces the forks, and allows me to bolt on my 750 fender!

I have a Telefix on one of my '86 700s
hard to quantify improvement, but easy to feel: better control in cornering.

installation must be done correctly or forks can bind.

contact me when u get the brace for some suggtestions.

I've got one on my 86 750. Before you snug everything down make sure you compress the forks a few times, to make sure nothing's binding.

    Will do, no problem.

Will also give review on any changes to bikes handling etc.
As soon as the weather changes for the better, currently -4 C, here.

+the best way to be certain there's no bind is to get the front wheel up off the ground, remove fork caps and springs, then lift the wheel to fully up position a couple times to check for feel.......then go ahead and follow the Telefix instructions, tightening things gradually and evenly.

Then do the same up -and -down with the wheel; it should not feel different from your initial check.

if binding is felt, loosten up screws again and keep trying; in an extreme case you might need to stick a paper shim (.003") in somehere or sand paint layer of fork tubes in that area.

    goodluck.

FWIW, the fork brace on my SV650 made a noticeable difference in stability, particularly in bumpy corners.

    Hello, Yonan.
Unfortunately the suppliers sent the wrong one, still waiting for it.
    Cheers

I have one from Superbrace on my '87 700. Can't remember what I paid but it was well worth it. The front end feels more solid and stable. I actually noticed a difference immediately at 10mph in the parking lot of my apartment complex. As the other posters noted, DO NOT over tighten. Aside from binding you also run the risk of squeezing your fork out of round which could causing leaking and fork seal damage. You surely want make sure lower fork tube mounting surface is clean of crusty bugs, road grime, etc. Hope this helps.
