Looking for a little insight here from anyone who might have knowledge on this topic. I have a '93 VFR750F with a front end that is in a word, whipped. I am considering doing a Race-Tech valve kit and replacing the fork bushings and seals. BUT... I'm wondering what it would take to swap a front end off of say a '97 CBR 929, and fit it to my VFR. Has anyone done this? Where do I find info on fork dimensions, specs, etc... Or, is it just a matter of getting out the vernier calipers and any other measuring device that I might need, and comparing the components?

Thanks for the info. However, I wasn't able to find the listing for a '97 929. As for swapping the triple tree and such, that is one of my questions. I'm thinking that a close look at the parts is in order. Some guy is selling the parts on CL, and I was thinking that maybe while I'm at it, (ONLY if I can retain my VFR front wheel), this might be a nice upgrade if it doesn't get too involved.

just do the race tech revalve with with the fork springs. Other mods IMHO aint worth it. I have a 600 F3 front wheel with rotors on my bike and it made a sweet steering addition with no mods what so eva. Cheers...I did see a 3rd gen bikie with a 929 front end but it looked like it sat too low... good luck and post pictures

That is because Honda didn't make a 929 97. The first year for the 929 was 2000.

Rebuild your forks and ride, anything can be done but this will not be easily changed over and you will have clearance issues that can not be overcome.

took your advice and re-valved the forks with a Race Tech kit. However, half way into this project, amidst all of my confusion, while talking to Race Tech, they informed me that it was necessary to replace the springs also... wish I had known that up front. None the less, it made a dramatic improvement. After it is all said and done though, I think I would have opted for a swap out with a front end off of a CBR, if for no other reason than to have the adjustments accessible without tearing the forks apart again to tweak it.. PITA!
Now, onto the rear shock. I have purchased a 929 unit w/ 6k miles on it, and am gathering the needed info for fitting this to my 93 VFR. Please chime in if you have any helpful tips or suggestions from your own experiences.
    Thanks

Did the gold valve kit over 15 years ago on the front with the fork springs. I have a F3 front wheel which made a difference and still used the old VFR axle. Replaced fork seals around 70,000 miles and cleaned everything along with re-painting fork tubes and clear coating them. Rear shock, I have a Fox twin clicker that I bought 15 years ago, Sent it back to Fox once to be rebuilt. As far as using a 929 shock your on your own. I would imagine if it measured eye to eye with what you took off you may have a chance of having it work. Keep me posted. Nice thing with suspension is once you have it set its usually, "Set it and forget it" in most cases. Good luck...Least you got one of the best generation VFRs
