Does anyone know if the stock forks are sprung with progressive springs? I would like to upgrade my suspension, and that is the easiest and cheapest way to do it, along with a thicker fork fluid. I can't find any info from Honda pubs.

According to the race-tech site, they measured the stock springs at .740 kg/mm. This is for the 98-01 bikes.  They didn't have one listed for the later ones, but it's probably the same.  Their site suggests a .941 (i.e. .95) kg/mm for a 190 lb rider. As I mentioned elsewhere, I think they're biased too much toward the racing side. Based on my results on my Ducati, I'd recommend you consider either a .85 or even a .80 spring.  It will be noticeably stiffer than the .740 stocker, but shouldn't beat you up so badly on the freeway.  I'm not sure I would go with the heavier fork oil.
